1.Pyasa (1957)

Starring Guru Dutt, Waheeda Rahman and Mala Sinha, ‘Pyaasa’ tells the life of an unsuccessful poet in an unkind, selfish society.Struggling poet Vijay is trying to get his work published but faces constant rejection.He meets Gulabo a prostitute who falls in love with him and his work and tries to help him.

Mother India is a immortal cultural classic by director Mehboob Khan and starring Nargis, Sunil Dutt,Rajender Kumar and Raaj Kumar.it is the story of a poverty-stricken village woman named Radha (Nargis) who, in the absence of her husband, struggles to raise her sons and survive against a cunning money-lender amidst many troubles. Despite her hardship, she sets a goddess-like moral example of an ideal Indian woman.
It was India's first submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1958, where it got the nomination and lost the award by just one vote.

Guide is a 1965 romantic drama film starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman and directed by Vijay Anand, who contributed to the screenplay. The film is based on the novel The Guide, by R. K. Narayan.This is for first time in Indian cinema  that both hero & heroine are depicted in negative shade.Vijay Anand deserves complements to tell a bold and unconventional romance between a married woman & a tourist guide.
A tour guide falls in love with a married woman and helps her rediscover her love for dance.

Indian hindi-language action-adventure film, directed by Ramesh Sippy . The film follows two criminals, Veeru and Jai (played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan), hired by a retired police officer (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the brutal dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan).
                                                                  
Sholay is considered a classic and one of the best Indian films. It was ranked first in the British Film Institute's 2002 poll of "Top 10 Indian Films" of all time. In 2005, the judges of the 50th annual Filmfare Awards named it the Best Film of 50 Years.

DDLJ, is an Indian romance film written and directed by Aditya Chopra (In his directorial debut) and produced by his father Yash Chopra. Its success led other film makers to target the non-resident Indian audience, which was deemed more profitable for them.

 Indian epic historical drama film directed by K.
